For the past three years, I've taught Finding Ancestors workshops at Hayden Library. Each workshop is unique and new. It's not possible to repeat one. Each is dynamic due to the interaction and online research we do together as a group. In my efforts to keep them lively and appealing to regulars and newcomers, I decided to enhance Finding Ancestors to include a Celtic Club. What this is not is a dues paying, members only organization.
It's Celtic – the diverse groups of Irish, Scottish, Ulster-Scots, French, Spanish and other Celtic nations. It's an inclusive and open club because the purpose is to educate and appreciate the history, culture, and customs of Celts as well as research and find our ancestors here and abroad.
Who The Celts Are
The Celts are one of the ancient races of the world, tracing their origins to before written history, somewhere in Eastern Europe.
Today, the Celtic strongholds are Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man and Cornwall in the British Isles, and Brittany in France, but you can find evidence of the ancient culture across Britain and parts of Western Europe.
